What is

Clinical Psychology?

Clinical Psychology is the branch of psychology concerned with the assessment and treatment of mental illness and psychological problems. A therapist’s goal is to help their clients identify their psychological, emotional or behavioural issues and then support them by developing goals and a plan of action to help clients achieve personal, social, educational and vocational development.

About Clinical Psychology after booking an appointment

An initial assessment period of 1-2 sessions is used to explore your symptoms and presenting problems and to understand what is the best treatment plan and approach. We also assess if the therapist is the right fit for you.

After the assessment period, typically once a week therapy is recommended. The duration of therapy will depend on the presenting problem as well as other factors such as time and financial resources.

Individual therapy is typically 50 minutes in duration, conducted either face-to-face or online.

Depending on the approach used, sessions will focus on providing a safe, nonjudgmental space to talk while increasing insight and awareness of one’s self as well as developing healthy coping mechanisms.
